Full Moon Hike

Enjoy a naturalist guided full moon nigh hike through George F Canyon Preserve in Rolling Hills Estates on Friday evening.  The hike will bring you to the top of the canyon for a spectacular view of the Los Angeles basin and city lights.  This full moon hike through George F Canyon in Rolling Hills Estates brings you to the top of the canyon for a fantastic view of city lights below.  Bring a flashlight.  Children must be at least 8 years old.  Please allow 2 hours for the walk.  Park at the George F Canyon Nature Center.  $10/person, reservations required.  Call 310-547-0862 to RSVP and learn the start time.

Native Plant Nursery Volunteer Workday

When: Saturday, April 7, 2012 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy on Saturday, April 7, 2012 to transplant seedlings, weed plant containers and remove iceplant to make way for Palos Verdes blue butterfly habitat.  Reservations are required.  For more information or to make reservations visit or call 310-541-7613.

Garden Tour – San Gabriel Valley

Where: Self-guided tour through 8 gardens, addresses provided upon registration

Tour eight sustainable landscapes gardens in the San Gabriel Valley from Pasadena to Burbank on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 10am-4pm.  The self-guided tour will be comprised of four private residences and four municipalities demonstrating environmentally-friendly landscapes.  Designers and landscape architects will be present at each venue to offer insights and answer questions.  $15 for USGBC – Los Angeles Chapter members/$25 for non-members if you register online.  $25 per ticket if purchased at the event.  For more information and to register visit

Green Living Shopping/Food Demonstration

When: Wednesday, April 11, 2012  9:00 am – 11:30 am

Where: Santa Monica Farmers Market and The Gourmandise School

Join Sustainable Works and Gourmandise chef and co-owner Clemence Gossett at the Santa Monica Farmers Market on 3rd and Arizona to shop for sustainable foods.  Farmers Market will be followed by a trip to The Gourmandise School in Santa Monica to learn about the environmental problems related to Shopping & Food.  The workshop will end with a dish prepared by Clemence.  One participant will win a Los Angeles Organic Vegetable Express (LOVE) produce box.  To register visit

Invasive Plants Workshop
