LA City Ranger Family Nature Hike and Nature Education Center
When: Saturday, July 31, 2010 Two hikes – 9am and 12pm
Where: White Point Nature Preserve: 1600 Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro
The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks will lead two nature hikes through the White Point Nature Preserve on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 9am and 12pm. The Preserve features 102 acres of native plants and coastal sage scrub habitat, over 100 species of birds, hiking trails and a new Nature Education Center (adapted from a historic Cold War Assembly building on the site) overlooking the ocean and Catalina Island. The Center is surrounded by a California native plant demonstration garden. Materials in the Center’s interior are built out of sustainable products including 100% recycled curbside glass, low carbon concrete counters and natural bamboo cabinets. National Farmers Market Week
