Good Food Festival & Conference

The Good Food Festival & Conference will take place at two different locations.  On Saturday, November 3, 2012 the Good Food Conference will be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).  Join Will Allen (author – The Good Food Revolution) and other food experts for discussion of issues integral to building an organic and sustainable food system.  Tickets are $35 for members and $45 for non-members (includes museum admission).

On Sunday, November 4, 2012 Localicious will take place at the Annenberg Community Beach House.  Celebrate the flavors of the Santa Monica Farmers Markets and savor signature dishes prepared by 30 of LA’s Leading Chefs paired with 30 farmers.  Enjoy live music, local wine, craft beers, and a silent auction.  Proceeds benefit FamilyFarmed.org.  For additional directions to the Annenberg and parking information visit the Annenberg Community Beach House website:  http://beachhouse.smgov.net/visit-us/getting-here-and-parking.aspx.

Electronic Waste Drop Off

When: Saturday, November 3, 2012 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Where: Paul Revere Middle School – Front of School, 1450 Allenford Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90049 Map It

The public is invited to drop off any and all electronics free of charge.  There is no limit to the amount of waste that can be dropped off.  All proceeds from any items that can be recycled will benefit the school.

 

Vote!!  California General Election

When: Tuesday, November 6, 2012 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Where:  Check your ballot for your local precinct or Find Your Polling Place Here

Remember to Vote YES on Proposition 37 for the right to know what’s in your food!  If you reside in Los Angeles County you can look up your polling place and sample ballot by visiting www.lavote.net/LOCATOR/.  If you are in another county in California use this link to find your polling place.

 

TreePeople Events

When: throughout the week, see the TreePeople calendar

Where: throughout Los Angeles

TreePeople offers a variety of volunteer opportunities including tree planting, tree care, mountain restoration, reforestation, park maintenance, seedling nursery, photography. Minors (accompanied by an adult) are welcome. Visit their calendar to select an activity and sign-up by pre-registering. Once you register, TreePeople will contact you with event details and directions.

During the week of October 26-November 1, 2012, TreePeople has the following on their calendar: Santa Monica Mountains Restoration and Park Work Day. Check out their calendar for more information.

 

Sierra Club Outings

When: throughout the week, see the Angeles Chapter Activities Calendar (rain may cancel)

Where: throughout Los Angeles

A few of the Sierra Club outings for this week include a Pacific Palisades Hike (Friday), Long Beach El Dorado Park Nature Walk (Saturday morning), Manhattan Beach Hike/Brunch (Sunday) and various conditioning hikes in Rancho Palos Verdes, Long Beach, San Pedro/Palos Verdes, Irvine, Signal Hill and Pasadena.
