Tomorrow is National Food Day and in Los Angeles it will be the most important day this year in the movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. On Wednesday, October 24th, the Los Angeles City Council will vote on whether to endorse Proposition 37. As the largest city in California, the position Los Angeles takes on our right to know what’s in our food will impact voters across the state.
We Need Your Help!
This is a pivotal moment for us to send a message to the companies who produce genetically engineered food. We must let city council know that we deserve the same right to know what’s in our food as sixty-one other countries across the globe. We must let city council know that we won’t let the same companies who told us DDT, PCGs, and Agent Orange were safe tell us that GMOs are safe and then deny us the right to know which foods contain GMOs.
What Can You Do?
1. Please call the representatives on the City Council TODAY (Oct 23rd) between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and ask them to vote “Yes” to endorse Proposition 37. If you live in the city of Los Angeles, you can find your representative’s contact information here or scroll down for a complete list.
2. Join Yes on 37 for a rally outside of City Hall at 8:30 am on Wednesday, October 24th. Bring your Yes on 37 signs and march! Following the rally, we’ll fill the Council Chambers to directly ask for our representatives to support us. The opposition plans to fill the hearing with their paid shills, we can’t let them outnumber us, the consumers who have the right to know what we are eating. We need to fill the room to win this! We need people to stand up and let the Los Angeles City Council know how important it is for Los Angeles to endorse Proposition 37.
