What’s in Season in July?

July is one of the best months for local produce. OK, who are we kidding?  Us Southern California folks are fortunate to live here – we have great produce year round!  That being said… July really does stand out.  You can tell by the overflowing tables at the Farmers’ Markets.

In addition to the items you see year-round (citrus, avocados, beets, carrots, collards, garlic, kale, lettuce, mushrooms and spinach to name a few) you will find super sweet apricots, peaches, nectarines and plums. Strawberries are still abundant but not for long. Raspberries and blackberries should be available for a while longer. I have also noticed a lot of eggplant, peppers, summer squash and tomatoes.
