Who Wants to Visit an Organic Farm?

I do, I do! And I did. And you can too.

Vital Zuman Organic Farm is a Certified Naturally Grown and USDA Certified Farm located on the beautiful Zuma Mesa in Malibu. It is one of the oldest continuously-running organic farms in the country. This family owned farm offers produce 52 weeks a year along with raw honey, jam, pickled almonds and other specialty items. It is also a co-op retreat where volunteers receive food they harvest in exchange for their participation. But what is even cooler than six acres of sustainable farmland right here in Los Angeles County is that they are open to the public. Vital Zuman is open Tuesday through Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday from 4pm-6pm. They can be found at the Malibu Farmers Market on Sundays from 10am – 3 pm and are closed on Mondays.

My mom, my kids and I took a drive out to Malibu a few weeks ago to check out Vital Zuman for ourselves. The farm store had a ton of freshly harvested produce, a huge selection of jams and various pickled items. They also had honey and raw milk products. My mom asked if they had any squash blossoms (she likes to stuff them with cheese and bake them) and they picked a bagful for her. In addition to grapefruit, avocados, plums, the most beautiful garlic I have ever seen and some apples we brought home more cups of mulberries than we could carry in one trip. Everything was delicious. I’d love to go back on a weekly basis!

Go check out Vital Zuman for yourself and let us know what you think!
